Hypnosis for Fertility anxiety and the pilgrimage towards parenting?

Hypnotherapy can assist by providing you with a sense of renewed wellbeing, rejuvenation and the ability to breathe during your periods of exhaustion and doubt, providing a sense of ok-ness on the more difficult days.

Do you have a wish to conceive, carry and birth your Baby? To be a Mum or Dad or are you a supportive friend traveling this vast emotional pilgrimage that touches your heart at every turn?

Hypnotherapy can assist by providing you with a sense of renewed wellbeing, rejuvenation and the ability to breathe during your periods of exhaustion and doubt, providing a sense of ok-ness on the more difficult days.

If you are one of the women that has been trying to fall pregnant with no clear explanation as to why it appears to be more difficult for you then Hypnotherapy may be a good supportive option. Hypnosis and mind-body therapies can assist you in keeping you calm and steady during the ups and downs of conception, miscarriage and a myriad of other physical and social factors that come into play when you’re planning for a child.

How can Hypnosis help?

Hypnosis is one part of the therapy provided by a Hypnotherapist. As a Nurse and Clinical Hypnotherapist, I combine my knowledge of the biology of the body and in almost all cases, I’m able to provide a lay (wo)man’s explanation of why it’s important to keep the stress hormones to a minimum and more importantly, how to do it with a few simple techniques.

You see, our body’s nervous system is fuelled by our minds’ response or our perceptions of fear and panic. We may not have saber tooth tigers to fight but that does not mean we’re not responding as if one is in front of us.

What does this have to do with you, I hear you thinking?

For women wishing to conceive after a long period of attempting to fall pregnant naturally simply approaching a scan, an Obstetrician appointment or just seeing a familiar medical professionals number come up on their phone it can be enough to release a fear and even panic response in the body. Our mind is often on the watch to avoid moments of extreme distress, prolonged discomfort or mental hurt. It is during these times that our body releases adrenaline which is counterproductive in the conceiving and birthing body.

Insomnia relief with hypnosis

Hypnotherapy offers an opportunity to reset your cycles of sleeplessness and provides a refreshing chance to investigate the reasons why this is occurring in this instance. As a medically-attuned clinical hypnotherapist and RN, I appreciate the complexities of the physical and structural abnormalities that drive the recurrence of insomnia.

Can’t sleep? Ease your night time distress with Hypnotherapy.

Hypnotherapy for insomnia was my introduction to Hypnotherapy and hypnosis as a life changing phenomenon. Allow yourself to be ready and willing to rid yourself of the exhausting symptoms of insomnia.

Life is quite short. Shorter even, as we get older.

In some cases, however, that switch into the fight and flight autonomic nervous centre may find itself stuck in high alert and anxiety. When we’re able to consciously and subconsciously let go or process the trigger (whether you’re aware of what it is or not) of this current insomnia then hypnosis may be right for you!

Can’t sleep, can sleep but wake regularly, wake too early? All of these are indicative of insomnia. If these are your experiences, then find yourself a Hypnotherapist today.

PTSD symptom relief

The effects of Clinical Hypnotherapy combined with CBT were most positive in the veteran population. The combination of subsequent CBT and a structured 1 hour consultation process over multiple sessions was found to support the veteran’s respect for time and process as enhancing the positive Hypnotherapy outcomes for their clients.

Hypnotherapy provides effective relief for many people suffering from PTSD with all research findings highlighting the importance of receiving therapy from a highly skilled Therapist with a background in mental health care training.

Post Traumatic Stress disorder symptoms vary from one person to another. However, most people express their experiences as a combination of these 4 main groups of symptoms according to SANE

·       Flashbacks of the traumatic event through intrusive memories or nightmares

·       Feeling emotionally numb

·       Feeling anxious and jumpy’ for no reason

·       Avoiding reminders of the event

Flashbacks, intrusive images, thoughts and nightmares are common and often extremely distressing.

A 2019 Meta-Analysis titled “Effectiveness Magnitude of Hypnosis on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder treatment’ on military and civilian populations was supportive of Hypnotherapy for PTSD in both populations.

Education - Evidence-based neuroscience behind clinical hypnotherapy

Get the facts about Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness techniques.

Natural State Hypnosis is committed to educating the community about the life-altering benefits of Hypnosis and Mindfulness. With seminars and workshops around Australia, our mission is to inspire both patients and practitioners to embrace the connectivity and outcomes that Hypnosis can provide.

A Little Evidence-based research data

Prefrontal Cortex (PFC):

The PFC is involved in executive functions such as decision-making, planning, and attentional control. During hypnosis, there is often a decrease in PFC activity, which may reflect reduced self-awareness and critical thinking.

Some studies have shown decreased activity in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), which is implicated in cognitive control and working memory, during hypnosis. This reduction in DLPFC activity may contribute to increased susceptibility to suggestion.

Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC):

The ACC plays a role in monitoring and regulating cognitive processes, including attention and conflict resolution. During hypnosis, there can be changes in ACC activity, possibly related to alterations in attentional focus and response inhibition.

Studies have shown changes in ACC activity during hypnotic suggestions, suggesting a role in processing hypnotic instructions and modulating attentional resources.

Parietal Cortex:

The parietal cortex is involved in spatial perception, attentional processing, and integrating sensory information. Hypnosis may lead to changes in parietal cortex activity, reflecting alterations in spatial awareness and body representation.

Studies have reported changes in parietal cortex activity during hypnotic inductions, suggesting a role in modulating body perception and attentional processes.

Hypothalamus and Limbic System:

The hypothalamus and limbic system are involved in regulating emotions, motivation, and autonomic functions. Hypnosis may modulate activity in these regions, influencing emotional responses and physiological arousal.

Neuroimaging studies have shown changes in limbic system activity during hypnotic suggestions, suggesting a role in regulating emotional experiences and physiological states during hypnosis.

Default Mode Network (DMN):

The DMN is a network of brain regions associated with self-referential thoughts, mind wandering, and introspection. Hypnosis may lead to alterations in DMN activity, reflecting changes in self-awareness and conscious experience.

Studies have shown decreased DMN activity during hypnosis, suggesting a suppression of self-referential processing and an altered state of consciousness.

Understanding the neural correlates of hypnosis provides insights into how hypnotic phenomena are mediated by specific brain regions and networks. However, it's essential to recognize that hypnosis is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, and further research is needed to elucidate its neural mechanisms fully.

The Underlying mechanisms of hypnosis

The underlying mechanisms of hypnosis are complex with various theories and empirical findings shed light on how hypnosis affects cognition, perception, and behavior. Here are some key mechanisms proposed by researchers:

Altered State of Consciousness: One prominent theory suggests that hypnosis induces an altered state of consciousness characterized by focused attention, heightened suggestibility, and reduced awareness of external stimuli. This altered state may involve changes in brain activity and connectivity, leading to alterations in perception, memory, and self-awareness.

Dissociation: Hypnosis may involve a form of dissociation, where certain mental processes become disconnected from normal conscious awareness. For example, hypnotic suggestions can lead to dissociation between perception and belief, allowing individuals to experience suggestions as real even if they contradict objective reality.

Selective Attention: Hypnosis often involves directing attention towards specific stimuli or suggestions while inhibiting awareness of others. By focusing attention on hypnotic suggestions, individuals may become more receptive to those suggestions and less responsive to competing stimuli or distractions.

Expectation and Belief: Expectation and belief play crucial roles in shaping the effects of hypnosis. When individuals expect hypnosis to produce specific outcomes, they may unconsciously align their experiences with those expectations, leading to the manifestation of hypnotic phenomena.

Social and Contextual Factors: The social context in which hypnosis occurs can influence its effectiveness. Factors such as the authority and credibility of the hypnotist, social norms surrounding hypnosis, and the individual's willingness to comply with social expectations can all impact hypnotic responsiveness.

Neurobiological Mechanisms: Neuroimaging studies have identified changes in brain activity and connectivity associated with hypnosis. These include alterations in cortical networks involved in attention, perception, and cognitive control, as well as changes in subcortical regions implicated in emotion regulation and motivation.

Top-Down Processing: Hypnosis may involve top-down modulation of perception and cognition, where higher-level cognitive processes influence lower-level sensory and perceptual processing. By altering cognitive expectations and interpretations, hypnosis can influence how individuals perceive and respond to sensory stimuli.

Role Play and Simulation: Some researchers propose that hypnosis involves a form of role play or simulation, where individuals engage in a collaborative process with the hypnotist to create and experience hypnotic phenomena. In this view, hypnosis is not inherently different from other forms of imaginative or suggestible behavior.

Overall, the underlying mechanisms of hypnosis likely involve a combination of psychological, social, and neurobiological factors. Research in this area continues to advance our understanding of how hypnosis works and its potential applications in various domains, including therapy, performance enhancement, and neuroscience research.

Does hypnosis work?

It’s a unique playing field and one that continues to have its validity questioned despite the addition of fMRI evidence of what occurs in the brain during hypnosis as well as the newer area of the neuroscience of consciousness providing us with more defining variances between the waking state and state of hypnosis.

Good question!

I’m never disappointed when people ask me about what I do. Well, I get to hypnotise people for a living and a vast majority thank me, tell me I’ve genuinely changed their lives or the lives of a family member.

It’s a unique playing field and one that continues to have its validity questioned despite the addition of fMRI evidence of what occurs in the brain during hypnosis as well as the newer area of the neuroscience of consciousness providing us with more defining variances between the waking state and state of hypnosis.

Mindfulness for work wellbeing

Mindfulness habits encourage non-judgmentally engaging with others with the Beginners Mind, letting go of their own world view and allowing others to be viewed and acknowledged when delivering essential information with kindness and compassion.

It can feel quite a difficult task navigating your mindful workplace when words like deadlines, unacceptable and crucially important are just a handful of words that you may hear expressed in your work environment.

Mindfulness provides a form of inner calm, emotional intelligence and resilience in all aspects of life with the ability to breathe intentionally and with purpose bringing us all back to each moment. The complexities of work expectations can be viewed more globally with others, or our own unique stressor habits being more freely understood in the moment.

‘You can’t stop the waves but you can learn to ride them’ Jon Kabat-Zinn

These words ring true in life and especially so, when we courageously step into the intense world of employment, at all levels. We need only reflect on the way we have learned to communicate as children, bold, meek, out spoken, quiet, strong or anxious, just to mention a couple. .

We often refer to the lesser qualities as needing to be built up.. Meek = quiet yet effective, for example. However, Mindfulness invites non-judgemental awareness in the present moment. For those that are bold and confident with their opinions? Then perhaps their Mindfulness habits shall extend to non-judgmentally engaging with others with the Beginners Mind, letting go of their own world view and allowing others to be viewed and acknowledged when delivering essential information with kindness and compassion.

The parasympathetic nervous system is a key component to moving more easily into a mind of clarity and calm which is of most use in the workplace. However, we are rarely taught the skills to switch our body into this mindset and bodily activity.

During your corporate Mindfulness moments I will deliver medically-attuned mindfulness habits that are based on: Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction program and Nancy Bardacke’s Mindfulness-Based Childbirth and Parenting Program – no need to ask why birthing and parenting compare to the work environment!

Hypnotherapy is a kind of рѕусhоthеrару that utilisеѕ the power of роѕitivе suggestion tо bring аbоut ѕubсоnѕсiоuѕ change tо оur thоughtѕ, fееlingѕ and bеhаviоr. Clinical hypnotherapy for chronic pain

Hypnotherapy harnesses your ability to retrain neural pathways and develop new patterns in the brain and body helping you reclaim control and relieve unrelenting chronic pain.

Clinical trial evidence consistently provides positive results for hypnotherapy effectiveness in reducing daily pain intensity levels in people with chronic pain.

Hypnotherapy harnesses your ability to retrain neural pathways and develop new patterns in the brain and body helping you reclaim control and relieve unrelenting chronic pain.

Chronic Pain and illness is debilitating, exhausting and extremely stressful.

Chronic Pain is considered as pain that occurs most days of the week and has been persistent for longer than three months. It may include pain that no longer has an identifiable cause regions of the body that have physically healed and pain remains.

Other physical identifiable causes include:

·       Arthritis

·       Autoimmune syndromes

·       Cancer

·       Chronic nerve pain and bone / cartilage & ligament damage

·       Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

·       Complex Pain Syndrome

·       Fibromyalgia

·       Motor Neurone Disease / ALS: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

·       Multiple Sclerosis

·       Neuropathic pain syndrome

·       Phantom Pain Syndrome

·       Shingles

….. just to name a few.

It is estimated that 1 in 5 people suffer chronic pain.  It’s complex and the cause and treatment options which suit one person may not be as adequate for another.  Treatment options often require reviews to medications, changes to treatment recommendations and emotional resilience falling short at times due to the sea-sawing effect to ones’ ability to maintain healthy emotional reserves when the chronic pain remains.

As a person in chronic pain there are some real concerns to address such as their primary chronic pain site, mobility and mental distress as well as financial hardship.  These issues present consistently for a person with chronic pain and their family as a decrease in their capacity to earn, ability to maintain social connections and their needs as a caregiver becomes compromised.

What we do know is that there is not one single treatment that alleviates all chronic pain.  It takes good communication, support and the ability to advocate for yourself or your partner.

It often requires the combination of proactive strategies about how your mental and emotional health may be maintained and health care professionals focused on providing you with positive outcomes and improved quality of life.

Quit smoking with Hypnosis

Yes! Is my first response, however, it comes with some further investigations from under our Hypnotherapist caps. We want to know whether you think it works? Why and who suggested it and whether their opinion is held in high regard.

Does it really work for smoking?

.. that is the first question I’m asked when people hear about my day job.

Yes!  Is my first response, however, it comes with some further investigations from under our Hypnotherapist caps.  We want to know whether you think it works?  Why and who suggested it and whether their opinion is held in high regard.

You see, we all have free will.  Whether we are hypnotisable or not will make minimal difference if the purpose of smoking is providing a reward more significant to the person than simply quitting.  Lifestyle habits, relationships and others opinions can create inner conflict and its effects may over-ride one’s better good at times.  But never forget, every attempt is one step closer to the winning day as a non-smoker for good!

Are you ready to quit?  To bring your plans and goals to the forefront of your daily, weekly and monthly plan?

Would you consider Hypnotherapy if you were certain one of several long-lasting changes could be installed such as never being able to consider having another cigarette ever again?

Perhaps you would rather not be drawn to the ‘draw-back sting’ at the back of your throat?  Hypnotherapy can have the natural gag response to the smell, taste and sting at the throat enabling you to quit the cigarette with the support of anchors such as red traffic lights reminding your mind and body that you have quit and you’re committed to that change.

Or perhaps when you smell the carpet in a bar you are reminded of how unpleasant smoking is and you feel relieved as a non-smoker once again..

Quit Smoking Hypnotherapy Hobart Tasmania

And just like Monopoly you will imagine collecting $50 each time you pass the service desk at your local supermarket during your fortnightly shop rather than handing it over, and over and over.

How would you celebrate your improving health and wealth situation? A weekend away? A trip to a shop supplying your favourite past time bits and pieces?

MS Relief with Hypnosis

Since my early teens I have had a gut disease and this has created other issues as I have grown older including IBS and being overweight. In 2014 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and this brought my world crashing down, exaggerated my existing conditions and adding new ones. As a sensitive, born worrier, anxiety was creeping into my everyday life and I wanted to find a way to control what I could control. I kept coming back to hypnotherapy.

The role of Hypnotherapist is a very rewarding one. Here are some words from a wonderful woman I've been fortunate enough to meet.

I googled hypnotherapists who were registered with the AHA and liked the sound of Ange and felt her credentials matched the issues I was trying to deal with.  With an open mind I went to my first visit and left with so much more than I expected.

Forget the media stereotype.  I shared my problems with Ange and when I was under hypnosis she gave me tools to deal with those problems.  At no stage was I out of control or not in charge while under hypnosis.  This is a big misunderstanding in the public about hypnotherapy and one I have defended since to others that have suggested that I was not fully hypnotised if I can remember or was aware of what was going on.

After my first visit I left feeling drained but calm.  I felt really comfortable with Ange and was so glad I made the visit.  Her genuine concern, research and follow up went above and beyond and I felt (for the first time in a long time) that I was being dealt as an individual and not a “textbook case”.  I ended up sharing much more with Ange than I ever set out to do and this is still having a positive effect on my well being.

It took a few weeks for me to realise the subtle improvements.  My relationship with food choices and control is improving and this has helped with my health in many areas.  I’m still working on the weight loss but I now looking at that as a lifelong goal of management!  To be honest I have learnt now to recognise when my body is full and act on it.  Knowing and doing are two different things and the mantra Ange shared with me and I continue to live by is to “eat no more, no less” than my body requires.  I still need more improvement but I am moving forward!

One of the most positive outcomes that slowly emerged was a change in a long standing difficult relationship that I had endured all my life and couldn’t cope with.  All my anxiety fell away and I was able to let go of the past and move forward in a more relaxed and less uptight manner.  I did not expect this to happen and now look forward to having those relationships again.  I can’t put a price on this and have no other explanation other than hypnotherapy brought about this change.

My experience with Ange has been nothing but positive and I hope to continue visiting whenever I am in the South of the state. I thank you Ange for the care you have shown and continue to show me.

It has been a pleasure collaborating with Jenny to relieve her distress and create change in her wellbeing and perception of her good life.  Thank you!
